I will then monitor the Zoom Windows release notes at Release notes for Windows — Zoom Support until a release appears which is intended to address this issue. While we are all waiting for a fix to appear, please consider following Troubleshooting instructions at Frequently asked questions — Zoom Support to submit a Technical Support request. That will notify Zoom support of the problem if they don't already know and let them know that we Windows users are awaiting a new release that doesn't have the problem.

I already reported this problem to Zoom Support. They said that they will further investigate this problem. Hope a new version will fix this. With the help of the technicist from Zoom, I fixed this problem.

Actually, it is something wrong with the Audio setting. When you are using your zoom to play a audio, open your Sound settings in Windows and check the volume mixer. Then you may find that the application for Zoom meeting is muted. Just unmute it, everything will be fine. Just wanted to thank you again for posting this information.

Even though I had autoupdate turned off for Zoom, a few weeks ago my Zoom sound output failed as before. Using the information which I posted below in response to your post, I was able to quickly find my way to the advanced audio settings and unmute Zoom to solve the problem. Odd that it failed in the first place.

Is Zoom perhaps targeting what it perceives to be whiners within its community? Remember, just because you aren't paranoid doesn't mean you aren't being followed. It was not trivially obvious how to "check the volume mixer". When I scrolled to the bottom of the window, I saw:. So, which of the two Zoom entries need to be adjusted? More to the point, why are there two Zoom entries? Even more to the point, how do I remove the bogus entry so that there is no question which Zoom entry needs to be adjusted?

Put another way, why is it necessary to navigate to the Windows App volume and device preferences window to discover that Zoom sound is muted? It seems evident to me that the Zoom app has a dysfunctional relationship with Windows audio settings. Perhaps a technicist from Zoom can chime in on this thread to help all of us Zoom users on Windows get Windows audio settings for Zoom straightened out?

Thanks for your feedback. My Laptop is a brand new one with the W11 update. Is just zoom, the one giving me the background issue. Other than that, works fine. Please, help us on this! I need to use the background for work. Thank you Rupert. I too could not use the virtual backgrounds but I installed Zoom again using the link you provided for the 64 bit and now I am in Zoom virtual background la la land!

Thank you so much for providing the link. I am still convinced that somewhere in the code is a table of acceptable operating systems - and W11 is not among them! Since this machine was able to jump Microsoft's high hurdle to install W11, I am sure that it is not deficient. After installing the linked version and finding that backgrounds were still unsupported, I checked for updates.

That version was 5. I hoped that Mepemep's success was because Zoom had slipped in a sly fix, but I was disappointed.

I downloaded from the link provided and I was able to participate in my meeting successfully with a selected virtual background. As I was closing down the app I checked to see what version I was on and I noticed that there was an update available. I updated to 5. Yes, I am running Windows I also am a Tech professional so I know my stuff. Zoom is working perfectly for me. Sorry that you don't have the same experience. Help me! What did you do to get a virtual background to work on Windows 11?

I was in touch with Zoom just today and they said Windows 11 does not support a virtual background and I should "work around" on another machine. Not an option and Zoom is no help! Sorry Zoom but this is ridiculous! Especially for paying customers! So I am supposed to downgrade my system for a virtual background?

Doesn't make sense! I thought that it was just the issue of W11 being left off the list of operating systems, but others have said that they have got backgrounds to work. I can only conclude that the restriction applies to machines with shared display memory, everything else checks out. However features like eyebrow tracking work, which I would think called for more vision processing ingenuity, so maybe Zoom will get around to the background problem one day.

Are you having problems with static image backgrounds or with video backgrounds? I found that I can use static ones but not video. I am using Windows 10, but I wonder if the same thing happens with Windows 11, or if Windows 11 is more restrictive as to the hardware you must have for video backgrounds. I'd be happy with a static image! If I select 'I have a green screen' that can be enabled, but all the background clutter shows through.

In all such cases, such as the 'upgrade to W11' test, there should be a 'I accept that my system might cause problems' button should force a pass to the test. Friend has an Asus windows 10 laptop with the and gets the message saying the specs are not up to it.

Which suggests Zoom perhaps do not recognise it, even though it's better than previous gen i3's that they allow.. I don't understand why they would have that requirement, when there is no similar requirement for Intel processors. I am having the same issues and I have the same processor.. So it means we can't use background for now then? Actually, it seems to be more complicated. I downgraded to Windows 10 and I am still having the same problem. And with another computer, a desktop with an Intel processor, Core i7, 4 cores, 3.

Something is wrong with Zoom. I suspect that the problem is the shared video memory. It is interesting that the face recognition features, like party hat and eyebrows, do not seem to need that video memory. Perhaps background recognition will catch up soon. Incidentally, last year their were party features like Christmas hats and antlers. I wonder when they will appear! I think I know why the Core i7, 3. They want 6th generation or higher.

Mine is 3rd generation, while the Core i5, 2. Yet I am surprised that the filter gizmos like reindeer antlers can work when backgrounds do not. There is even something to paint on lipstick! Maybe Zoom could add another filter to insert false teeth!
